Friendship Day

Another Friendship Day.

I send few Friendship day messages and I have received two replies back. One was a usual “wish you the same” message. Another one received from my long time friend with little extra message which shows from my long list of “good (old) friends” he still hanging there. How many friends we had in the past?

How many of them are we still in touch. Good to think now.

I could remember only one friend (Madhu) from my “prior to school” age. Since pre-KG, kindergarten and play school etc was not familiar in those days… I have to mention this period as “prior to school”. I got his contact detail after a long gap and though attended his wedding and not much improvement in this friendship.

In lower primary and upper primary classes, I could recollect few friends’ names… Suresh, Rajesh, Ashraf, Prakash, Anil… Yes. I can still count on some more. Where are they now? Except Anil & Praskah, I have no clue about others. Even for these two I only knows where they are currently working. And an occasional email or sms or chat on messenger.

In high school also I had few friends, so is in college, first job, second job, third job….

What happened to all these friends? We were thick friends and spent lot of times together, played, studied, worked & travelled. I can add many things. Some people we even knew their families very well. We had same wave length, we may still have. Still if I see today, there are not many friends whom we are in touch with on a regular basis. Nothing happened wrong between our friendships. Its’ just that we are not in touch anymore and slowly and sadly we started forgetting each other. I have deliberately stopped writing about the names of my friends cause, I am sure that I would have missed many, if I continue with it.

I think in every phase of your life we will have a set of friends. Most of them will be “faced out” from your radar or even if you meet them after a long time the same “bonding” wont’ be there. Only few will survive, “Survival of the fittest”. It’s the same way nature also works.

Another friendship day has come and like any other day, it has gone.

Like my old friends my current friends also will get distanced from me today or tomorrow.

I can only use one cliché here “Keep in touch”

Why do Doctors write articles?

I never suspected anything wrong about the articles published in the media till recently. Infact, its' the best thing any Doctor can do for the public to educate them. It will be easy for the people to get to know about the illness and more importantly about its reasons and symptoms in advance so that they can avoid it.

I am a regular in hospitals now a days. In fact, I may be visiting hospitals more often than its emplyees. One such day, while I was with a Doctor i overheard their conversation. Some one from the hospital management called up the Doctor to check up the status on the article which they suppose to do. Are they doing it only to educate the public? I think it has too many dimensions. One obviously to create awareness. Another reason, it will give some publicity to the Doctor who wrote the article. This will also help the hospital, which he or she is attached with. In the recent past, we would have noticed lot of articles in media about the latest technologies/instruments and what help it can do or in what way its better than the old technologies/instruments. These article will also publish which hospital these instruments / technologies are available. This in turn an advertisement for the hospitals. I may be wrong, but I cant be blamed as I am sure all of us has realised their greediness. One best example of their greediness is the latest news from Insurance Companies that they are considering to stop the cashless facilities due to excessive billing by the hospitals.

I am not saying all hospitals and Doctors who writing in media will have wrong intentions, but there may be a possibility. Why not? Espesially when India is eyeing the health care industry with the same expectation like what IT industry has done done to it.
